Organic farm

We carry the sun in our hearts

Picture a wide clearing surrounded by meadows and woods, the impressive ridges of the Dolomites are shimmering on the horizon, and less than 500 meters away the historic Renon narrow-gauge railway chugs by leisurely. Here, where the forests rustle and people carry the sun in their hearts, the Lichtensternhof farm is located: a place where people and animals are equally spoiled and where nature sets the tone.

History

From Venosta Valley to Renon mountain

1950
The village of Curon in Venosta Valley has to make way for a lake damming. 840 people lose their home village, among them Anna and Johann Hohenegger, who find a second home on Renon mountain.
1951
Anna and Johann buy the farm Lichtenstern with stable, barn, and the associated restaurant "Trattoria Stella".
1960
Stable and barn are newly built.
1964
Extension of the inn into a small hotel. The elder son Sepp Hohenegger takes over the business. (Over the years the hotel has been constantly expanded and rebuilt. Since 2018 daughter Barbara Hohenegger has been running Hotel Lichtenstern).
1981
The younger son Anton takes over the farm. From now on the guest house
and the farm are two independent units.
2018/2019
Handing over of the farm to son Erich Hohenegger, who now runs the Lichtensternhof farm in the third generation. He initiates the complete reconstruction of stable and barn, the conventional farming is replaced by an organic free-stall barn.
